How To Install The Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services Role And The New RemoteApp Feature

With the release of Windows Server 2008, Microsoft will be updating their "Terminal Services" feature. In the above DABCC-TV Video, Douglas Brown walks you through how to install and configure the basic "Terminal Services "Role" and how to publish an application using the new RemoteAPP feature.

Terminal Services 2008 ships with a new feature called "RemoteApp programs". RemoteAPP programs are programs that are accessed remotely through Terminal Services and look, feel, and appear as if they are running on the end user's local computer. In the past Terminal Services sessions offered only access to "Desktop" session where as in Terminal Services 2008 you now have the ability to publish "RemoteApp" program that will appear to be integrated into the client's desktop, running in its own resizable window with its own entry in the taskbar. If you are familiar with Citrix "Seamless" applications then you will completely understand "RemoteAPP" programs.

The above "How To Install The Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services Role And The New RemoteApp Feature" video is broken in to the following four section:

00:05 - How to Install the Terminal Services Role

08:29 - How to Install an Application

10:35 - Verify remote connection settings

12:36- Add programs to the RemoteApp Programs list

NOTE: This is a first in a series of videos DABCC-TV will be releasing detailing how to install the new features in Microsoft Windows Server 2008. DABCC-TV is dedicated to providing you will tons of "how to" videos detailing how to use some of the best software in the virtualization market today so stay tuned to DABCC TV for many more videos!

</itunes:summary>

<itunes:duration>1</itunes:duration><itunes:keywords>terminal services, windows, how to, windows server 2008</itunes:keywords>

<itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

<feedburner:origEnclosureLink>http://www.dabcc.com/upload/media/1/episode1-ipod.m4v</feedburner:origEnclosureLink>

<media:rating>nonadult</media:rating>
Learn about technologies such as VDI, server virtualization, application virtualization, application deployment, application management, performance monitoring, and server-based computing from vendors such as Citrix, VMware, Microsoft, and many more.
